The Town of Morrisville follows a standard process for the screening of applicants and the hiring of new employees. Generally, when filling open positions, applicants are screened for their qualifications, the most qualified applicants are selected to move forward in the process and are called in for interviews and/or job-related assessments, a final candidate is selected, and an employment offer is made.

Application Screening

Applications are screened to determine the best-qualified applicants for the requirements of the position. Only these applicants will be included in the selection process in order to establish the best applicant pool for the position.

Selection Process

The selection process involves fairly testing the qualifications of applicants. This may involve a single interview or a series of tests to assess skills and abilities.

Final Applicant Pool

The Town shall prepare a final applicant pool consisting of a group of applicants who successfully completed the selection process. The Town may verify education and conduct reference checks and background investigations to further determine applicant qualifications. Applicant pools may remain in effect for up to six months.

Employment Offers

A job offer may be extended to one of the individuals in the final applicant pool who has been determined to be the most qualified based on verified job duties and the requirements of the position.

Medical Exam and Drug Screening

Conditional employment offers are contingent upon the applicant successfully completing any post­-employment ­offer medical examinations, a drug screening, a background check, and a motor vehicle record check.

Appointments

The Town may appoint any applicant in the specified applicant pool who has successfully completed the entire selection process.
