The Morrisville Police Department authorizes its Police Officers to provide law enforcement related services outside of an employee’s normal work hours in exchange for a fee paid by the employer. 

This may include Police Officers assigned to special events, traffic control, business or construction site security, or special escorts.  Morrisville Police Officers do not arrange their own "off duty jobs” as all job requests are screened and assigned by the Morrisville Police Department. Outside employment that can be interpreted to be inconsistent with, in conflict with, or detrimental to, the interests of the Town or the department will not be approved.

Depending on staffing levels and other scheduled commitments at the time of your application, this office does not guarantee that extra-duty positions will be provided or filled.

To efficiently respond to requests and manage the employment of off-duty police officers, The Morrisville Police Department, NC has partnered with Extra Duty Solutions to provide services related to hiring off-duty officers effective November 11, 2024.

Rates:

Rates are inclusive of all fees, and are per officer, per hour:

*Fees included but are not limited to agency admin fees, scheduling fees, worker’s comp, etc.

Standard officer rate: $51.73

Holiday officer rate: $63.23

Supervisor rate: $63.23

Holiday Supervisor rate: $74.72

Vehicle fee (flat fee per job): $27.50

Here are some agency policies you need to be aware of:

· There is a required three (3) hour minimum to schedule an officer for an extra duty/off duty job.

· Rates are rounded up to the next half hour if the officer works into the next hour.

· Cancellation Policy: If you cancel a job with less than a 24 hour notice, you will be charged three (3) hours for each officer assigned to the job.

· Holiday rate applies to all city holidays, including New Years Eve & day, Martin Luther King, Jr Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving (day of and day after, Black Friday), Christmas (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and day after).
